"Last Year You Couldn't Grow a Weed!"

This is my first real year gardening. Last year I was too distracted by my handsome boyfriend (now husband), work and regular summer fun to put a lot of work into my little raised garden bed. I'm pretty sure I did everything wrong too, and sure enough it was a dirt bath. The resemblance to a garden was so terrible that my friend's kids thought it was a sandbox and were jumping and digging in it.

But this year... I have a weed garden! It actually is better than a weed garden, but the weeds have just absolutely taken over that I find myself calling it "organic farming," I don't want to disturb the soil too much. Anyway, it has been a learning experience and a good project. I have grown radishes pretty well, my peas are growing and my potatoes have taken off. That was my first batch. My second batch of seeds planted are now coming up and growing rapidly, though not as plentiful as my first group. I have a few carrots, three lettuce heads (I planted these two times with tons of seeds and only got three little heads!), some cabbages, two pumpkin plants, spinach, tomatoes, and maybe cucumbers. Though I wish I was better at it, I am not too frustrated because I know that I will (hopefully) only get better.

This Thursday I will be going to the local farmer's market to sell my goods! I know my radishes aren't the best, but they will be cheap! I plan to bake some breads and sell those and maybe cookies too. I just want to try it, see how many people really go in our small town and maybe get rid of some of our radishes. I'll let you know how it goes!
